can I reuse my ring?

yes, that's the whole idea. rinse it with mild soap and water, let it dry completely, add 1-3 drops of essential oil, and let it soak at least 4 hours, ideally overnight while you sleep. by morning the silicone has drunk the oil back in and you're good for another day. one ring handles 30+ rounds of this before it retires, which works out to pennies a wear.

what oils are safe on the ring?

100% pure essential oils only, ours or your own. skip anything cut with alcohol or fragrance oils, they break down the silicone and smell worse doing it. most oils do best mixed with a drop or two of carrier oil, and "hot" oils like cinnamon or oregano should always be diluted before they get anywhere near your nose. when in doubt, start with one drop.

my package says shipped, now what?

shipped means it has physically left our shop in Utah, usually within one business day of your order. smaller orders ride without tracking, that's part of how we keep shipping cheap and the rings $7.99. if it's been more than 10 business days and your mailbox is still boring, email cs@essencering.com and a real person will chase it down.

how long does delivery take?

most orders land in 3-5 business days anywhere in the US. rural routes and holiday seasons can stretch that to 10. we ship from Utah, so the mountain west gets spoiled and the coasts get patience practice. longer than 10 business days, email cs@essencering.com and we'll make it right.

our story

it started with two very smelly flights.

one neighbor who'd marinated in an ashtray, one who'd skipped a shower for a week, and a guy in the middle seat with his nose buried in his own shoulder.

that guy was Mike DeLeeuw. in 2017 he flew to Dallas next to a man he still describes as "marinated in an ashtray of 16 cigarettes." the flight home was worse: no open seats, new neighbor, same problem. he landed with a mission, and his wife Tami was all in.

they tinkered, sniffed, failed, and tinkered again until they landed on soft silicone that holds real essential oil. in 2018 the first essence ring shipped: a small ring that rests at the base of your nose and quietly replaces whatever the world is serving. like a septum ring, minus the piercing and the commitment.

a million and a half rings later, they're worn on night shifts under hospital masks, in dentist chairs, at medspas, in hotel amenity trays, and on planes, where it all started.
